Q: |
Do I need to have a dial
up account through IDO,
before I can use the
accelerator? |
|
A: |
Yes. |
|
Q: |
What operating systems
work with the IDO
Accelerator? |
|
A: |
MAC OS X and Windows
95-XP Pro.
Unfortunately,
accelerator does not
work with Vista |
|
Q: |
What browser choices do
I have? |
|
A: |
There is automatic
integration with
Microsoft Internet
Explorer® and Firefox®
(and all browsers using
manual proxy settings).
|
|
Q: |
What advantages do I
have using IDO's
Accelerator versus
another ISP's? |
|
A: |
Take advantage of
exclusive features,
including pop-up
blocking, privacy
management, integrated
diagnostics and the
SlipStream Toolbar.
|
|
Q: |
What Sites can I visit
with the Accelerator? |
|
A: |
Surf any public Web
site, access email using
POP3, SMTP, and IMAP and
download files via FTP.
|
|
Q: |
I am on dial up, how
long is the download
going to take? Can I get
a CD with the
Accelerator burned on
it? |
|
A: |
It is a 5MB Sized file
that takes roughly less
than 4 minutes to
download on a 14kb Dial
Up connection. If you
require a cd to use to
download the accelerator
there is a one time
charge of $5.95.
|
|
Q: |
How does it work? |
| |
Using traditional
Internet access methods,
the text and graphics
that make up Web pages
get sent from the server
to you over congested
lines. Because of the
large amount of data
required to be sent,
this process can be
painfully slow. The
acceleration technology
compresses this data and
sends it over your
existing dialup phone
line low-bandwidth
connection. This
compression process
allows a smaller amount
of data to be sent,
making the download time
of your Web pages and
your online experience
that much faster. As an
added download time
reducer, the accelerator
stores elements of the
Web sites you visit
frequently, eliminating
the need to re-download
them every time you
visit these sites. |
|
Q: |
What gets accelerated? |
|
A: |
To achieve the fastest
Web and email
acceleration available,
proprietary lossless
compression is applied
to text, html, xml,
javascript and style
sheets. Proprietary
image compression is
applied to gif images,
jpeg images and Flash
content. The accelerator
also accelerates email
traffic including
attachments, and is
compatible with any IMAP
or POP3/SMTP client,
including Microsoft®
Outlook Express and
Netscape® Mail and FTP.
The accelerator will
not currently accelerate
file downloads such as
music files, or
streaming video or audio
media. |
|
Q: |
When I send a paid
referral to IDO do I
have to pay for the
accelerator too? |
|
A: |
No, when a referral
signs up, tells us you
sent them up and make
their first payment...we
will credit your
account. For more
information
|
Q: |
When is my payment do? |
|
A: |
Your first payment is
due 10 days after you
sign up. Your monthly
payment is due on the
date that you sign up.
For example, if you call
and sign up on the 10th
of July, then your
payment is due on the
10th of each month. The
account will
automatically terminate
10 days later on the
20th. Essentially we
give you 10 additional
days to get your payment
in. |
|
Q: |
What if I sent in a
check and it has not
arrived, or I forgot to
send in payment.
|
|
A: |
-
It is the
responsibility of
our customers to
send in their
payments in a timely
fashion. If the
check was sent in
the mail, we need to
have the date that
it was postmarked.
We will not allow
access until check
is received.
-
We accept all
payments at our
storefront The Web
Zone, Monday
-Saturday from 9am
-6pm
-
The IDO staff can
take payment via
credit or debit card
over the phone in
order to reconnect
your account.

|
Q: |
I want to pay online
each month, but I want
to call in my payments,
is there an extra cost
for this? |
|
A: |
Yes, we do charge a $2
for manual payment
assistance. We have set
up a auto debit system
that allows our
customers to have a
payment auto debited
each month from their
credit or checking
account that does not
require any effort on
our customers part each
month. When a customer
calls in requiring
assistance our staff are
more than happy to
manually do the payment
for our customers.
